Implementing and Communicating Policies and Procedures

All new and significantly revised central policies may ideally be implemented using formalized procedures to ensure that local units are promptly informed and able to comply with any given policy by its effective date. These implementation procedures may include:

As noted above, local unit deans’ offices are typically responsible for informing their own stakeholders about new and significantly revised institutional policies, along with ensuring compliance with those policies at the local level. Local units may therefore ideally establish similar communication and implementation strategies to those central strategies outlined in this section. When a local unit dean’s office receives a central policy implementation plan, the office may use that plan as a guide to drafting its own local implementation plan. The local unit can revise the central implementation plan if necessary to suit its own needs.
